  1. Life in Ancient China was very prosperous and innovative. Both dynasties invented many tools that we still use today. Ships, gunpowder, and printing machines were all created under the Song and Tang dynasties.Ships could carry at least 500 people and had multiple decks. Navigation led to to creation of the magnetic compass which allowed the Chinese to navigate through open water. Gunpowder was first created for the use of fireworks in the Tang Dynasty but in during the Song Dynasty it was used to produce bombs and other weapons. Printing was invented after paper was made. First they made stamps then made automatic printers. Due to the accessibility of printing and paper the number of books grew.
In my opinion the Song dynasty was the most successful since the production of silk, iron and porcelain took place then. They also invented the merit system which allowed lower caste members to work in the government. Paper currency was issued by the government during the Song Dynasty.Songs's capital was Hangzhou was a major port and trading center and allowed trade with others. I also believe that the Tang Dynasty is responsible for a lot of the Song's inventions.

  2. The Chinese dynasties were a prosperous and rapidly growing empire. The ancient chinese were innovative and invented many items that we still depend on and use daily. For one, they invented the compass, printing machines and gunpowder. While the chinese were trying to find a medicine for immortality they accidently created gunpowder. They only knew that it was flammable and didn't find a use for it, but later started making bombs and other explosives with it. Once the Mongols received the gunpowder through war and other means they started to produce weapons. They are believed to have later helped spread it across the world. This is just one of the many ways that the ancient Chinese shaped the way we live today. Overall

I believe that the Song were a more advanced and well governed dynasty. They built great ships that were envied by the Europeans They also had more technological and engineering advances . During the Song dynasty they invented the magnetic compass, gunpowder like I stated earlier and moveable type. This allowed them to further invent the playing cards, paper money and calendars. All these technological and engineering advances make the Song Dynasty a better empire in my eyes.

  4. The Chinese dynasties grew rapidly and flourished. We still use many of their inventions. They produced many weapons and bombs. Printing was invented, therefore making the printing of book easier. And the number of books grew.

I think the Tang dynasty was successful. It was then, when Buddhism gained strength. And they guarded the boarders better than the Song dynasty. Art and trade flourished. And the capital, Chang'an, became the largest city of that time.

  5. Nowadays, we see China as an important, industrial powerhouse. Yet, we seem to disregard the unique traditions, structured government, and developed inventions of their rather momentous past. Dynasties flourished and fell as ancient China was ruled by numerous emperors and extraordinarily, for the time, one empress. Empress Wu struggled to elevate the status of women and prove that females are worthy enough to rule. Several other rulers worked hard to expand the realm. As they focused much of their time on the sciences and the arts, the ancient chinese were particularly avant-garde. Among the countless innovations made by the Chinese were magnetic compasses, gunpowder, and woodblock printing.
Given that the Tang Dynasty was a time where China has recovered and become a nation from previously being separated, I believe that this dynasty is better than the Song in terms of military skills and governmental development. Since the Song only had to pick up the pieces established by the Tang, they never had to unite the nation once more. Nevertheless, the Song Dynasty was a golden age for the ancient chinese as they flourished in the arts and sciences (as mentioned earlier). Therefore, I believe that the Song Dynasty was better culturally.

  6. Life in Ancient China was a time of great ruling and prosperity. Both Dynasties: The Tang and Song made inventions which are still used today and are of great importance to the people of their time. For example they invented the compass, this allowed them to travel to different lands and mark where they landed and that way they were able to trade with lands like Japan. They also made the first ships, they were impeccably engineered in order to hold a large load and withstand the weight of the goods and men they carry. Another invention of the Tang dynasty was gunpowder, in the beginning they used it for celebrations in the form of fireworks, but later on the Song Dynasty figured out that they could use it for explosives, and they invented different weapons with it. It was later traded through the Silk Road and it made its way to Europe and they used it to conquer other lands.
In my Opinion the Song Dynasty was a better dynasty of the two because they organized there government by using the merit system. This allowed even the lower classes to have a chance at getting a higher class job, not based on power, but by their talents. They also invented new things, for example the first paper money was invented during the Song Dynasty. In my opinion the Song excelled in the science’s more than the Tang Dynasty.

  7. China was the center of innovation and inventions unknown to the rest of the world and still is. They excelled in all inventions and still do. For example, they built the rudder boat and the compass, they invented gunpowder and news papers. We still use these inventions today. I believe the Tang dynasty was more successful because they were the first to reunite China and expand their borders. They brought back an efficient government and order. Without the Tang, the Song wouldn't be a dynasty that exists.

  9. The Chinese dynasty was affluent and innovative. The people of the empire retained a high degree of respect, and lived in neat, organized cities. Ancient China invented many of the technology and tools we use today, such as gun powder, explosives, ships and paper. The city, Chang'an ( also the capital of the Tang dynasty) was one of the most organized and structured cities of the ancient world. They also valued family ties and kinship, as well as living in their castes and abiding by the boundaries set by them.

In my opinion, the Tang Dynasty was the most successful, because it was the one that reunited China once again. If it weren't for the Tang, the Sing Dynasty wouldn't have even existed.

  10. The Chinese dynasties were very successful. Both, the Song and the Tang dynasties, helped China to grow and to become like what it is now. the lived in neat and organized cities, and invented new technology that we still use today.
I think that the Tang was more successful because it was the one that put China back together, and without it, the Song dynasty would have never existed.
